- The Shielded balance card gains the explanatory hover tooltip the mining card
already has (suppressed while the pending-chip tooltip is showing).
- Toasts get a severity-tinted background fill and a slightly thicker accent
border, so Success/Warning/Error/Info differ by more than hue alone (the
per-severity leading icon already existed). Tint opacity is a ui.toml token.

Extends the labeled "Pending +X" chip (with its awaiting-confirmations tooltip)
to three more layouts via a shared DrawPendingChip() helper. It draws on the
ticker line (the USD value sits on the line below in these layouts, so there's no
overlap) and is skipped if it would overflow the card. The remaining draw-list
layouts with right-aligned content (Consolidated, Minimal, the grid variants)
are left for a follow-up.

The unconfirmed balance was shown in only one layout as an unlabeled "+X" that
read as a mystery. It's now a labeled "Pending +X" chip with an "awaiting
confirmations" tooltip — the Classic card's badge is relabeled, and the shared
compact hero (Dashboard + Two-row layouts) now draws it too. (The remaining
hand-drawn layouts can reuse the same pattern as a follow-up.)

A syncing node skips the balance RPC, so the balance card paints a bare
0.00000000 / $-.-- that reads as lost funds after an update (a documented
support trap). Add one shared notice at the top of the Balance tab — above
every layout — shown only for the normal catching-up case (connected, network
tip known, still verifying, not a rescan/witness rebuild). Offline, no-peers,
a busy node and rescans stay the node-status banner's job, so the two never
stack.

#4 wired the total-earnings figure into the compact hero and the classic
layout only. This adds it to the remaining layouts in each one's native
style: donut / shield / timeline / minimal beside the USD line, consolidated
to the right of the USD, vertical-stack left of the Total row's amount, and
vertical-2x2 as a second line under the Total cell (dashboard and two-row
already show it via RenderCompactHero). All go through FormatTotalEarnings,
which returns nothing unless the global earnings toggle is on, so every
layout's default appearance is unchanged.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Surfaces the period-earnings aggregator in the Balance tab:
- Toolbar (shared address list): interval pills (1H/1D/1M/1Y), a received-
vs-net mode toggle, and a global show-all toggle, placed right of "Hide 0
Balances". The New Z-Address / New mining address buttons move to a footer
row across from "Showing X of Y" to make room.
- Per address: the row draws its earnings on line 2, left of the $USD value
(green positive, red negative in net mode), shown when the global toggle
is on or the address is opted in via a new "Show/Hide earnings" right-click
item. Works in every layout via the shared list.
- Total: FormatTotalEarnings (gated on the global toggle, so the default
appearance is unchanged) is wired into the compact hero (dashboard/minimal)
and the classic layout, left of / beside their USD figure. The remaining
layouts' totals are not wired yet.
- Settings > Appearance: an "Earnings Display Format" selector (Coin /
Coin + fiat / Fiat).
New i18n keys are translated into all eight locales; the CJK subset font is
rebuilt for the new glyphs. Builds + test suites pass on both variants.

The global keyboard shortcuts tested keys without disabling key-repeat,
so holding one down fired it every frame: the theme cycle, balance and
market layout cycles, the effects and background toggles, the settings
and sidebar-collapse keys all re-triggered on a held key. Cycling themes
also stepped onto skins that had failed to load and wrote the broken
pick into settings.
- Every one-shot shortcut now checks for a fresh key press only, so a
held key fires once.
- Theme cycling skips over invalid skins and only applies, persists, and
shows the toast when a skin actually loads; if none can load, settings
are left untouched and no toast appears.

The balance, address scan, history and probe were throttled one by one at
10% each, which added up to 30-40% of dragonxd's cs_main with all of them
due. services::WalletScanGovernor runs one wallet scan at a time across
both RPC lanes and keeps one shared quiet clock at 15% of wall-clock (cut
when the node is behind). Waiters are served first in, first out, with a
head start for what the page shows and a starvation floor of max(30 s
visible / 900 s hidden, 15x the stream's cost). Explicit work (a dirty
set, the user's send, a first load) is never refused but is charged.
Routine scans run only when the tip, the mempool size (getmempoolinfo:
no cs_main) or a wallet-mutation epoch changed since their last good scan,
or a safety sweep is due. Pages that don't show the balance poll it at
most every max(10 min, 50x its cost) (2 min with client-side auto-shield);
coming back into view with an old value fetches it at once. The staleness
badge counts from the last poll that confirmed nothing changed, and hides
while the budget holds the balance within its guarantee.

While theme effects were on (the default) the main loop drew every
frame it could. Where vsync is off (offscreen, some drivers, remote
sessions) an idle wallet spun at ~3,000 fps, 88% of a core; with vsync
it still drew every refresh. Frames are now paced by what needs them:
- full rate while there is input, a held key, a window appearing or
settling, a smooth scroll or the UI sweep;
- ambient (30 fps focused, 10 fps unfocused) for theme effects, the
acrylic backdrop, avatar animations and notifications;
- progress (10 fps focused, 4 fps unfocused) for UI that changes
without input. The updater and bootstrap downloads, console
commands, lite-wallet operations, seed migration, the loading
overlay and the lock-screen countdowns ask for it with
material::RequestProgressFrame();
- otherwise idle, as before: wait for events, with a housekeeping wake
every 2 s (5 s unfocused).
A software frame cap (0.9x the display refresh) bounds the loop where
vsync is off, and hidden, occluded or minimized windows get no ambient
frames. Reduce Motion freezes the theme-effect clock
(ThemeEffects::setMotionFrozen), so it needs no ambient frames either.
The displayed-balance roll goes through one clamped StepDisplayLerp
(balance_lerp.h). An idle-length frame pushed dt*speed past 1, so the
roll overshot, and under Reduce Motion's speed of 999 it diverged to
inf/NaN. The classic layout had its own copy of the old code.
Idle CPU, Lite build, offscreen (no vsync): 88% -> 5% of a core with
effects on, and 91% -> 3% with effects saved off (with the previous
commit).

DragonX is a private chain (-ac_private=1): consensus rejects any
non-coinbase output to a transparent address, so a t-address can only
ever receive mining rewards, and its coins can only move to a shielded
address. The wallet treated them like ordinary recipients.
Block paying one:
- Send: a transparent recipient shows "Mining address - can't be paid"
and disables Review Send (tooltip explains; ask for a zs... address).
Typing, paste, contacts and payment URIs all go through this field.
- Overview drag-to-transfer: a mining-address row is never a transfer
target (it only reorders).
- Pool payout must be shielded (pools pay with ordinary transactions):
field tooltip, disabled Start button and the start check say why.
- isValidRecipientAddress() is now shielded-only; new isDragonXAddress()
and classifyRecipient() (Shielded / MiningOnly / Invalid).
Call them mining addresses:
- Overview: "Mining rewards" card (amber "Not yet shielded" when there
is a balance; hover explains; click opens the Shield dialog), "New
mining address" button with a tooltip, rows typed "Mining".
- QR / label dialogs, portfolio filter, contact badge ("Mining only"),
Receive notifications.
i18n: 17 new keys in all 8 languages, 12 dead keys removed, CJK subset
rebuilt. Tests: recipient classification, translation completeness.
UI sweep: new "send-mining-recipient" target.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Bundles the session's UI work (the touched files carry several of these
changes together, so they are committed as one coherent UI batch):
- FAQ: new RenderFaqDialog + data-driven faq_content, opened from a
status-bar "?" (and the Windows title bar), styled like the Wallets
modal with search, Wallet/Daemon tabs, and smooth scroll.
- DPI/font-scale audit: multiply hand-drawn absolute geometry by
Layout::dpiScale() across ~30 files so nothing renders native-size at
HiDPI / font_scale 1.5 (verified with a full sweep at 1.5x).
- Mining: chart now fills the horizontal space; thread stepper +/- buttons
match the input-box height; move the stratum-host toggle into
Node & Security (v1.3.0+).
- Settings: fix the auto-shield status text overlapping the grid.
- Sidebar: drop the peer-count badge on the Network button.
- i18n: wrap 193 hardcoded literals with TR() (keys/translations added in
the preceding i18n commit), so the security/PIN/lock flow, seed-backup
wizard, and witness-rebuild dialog localize.

The tail of the DPI/font-scale/responsiveness audit — ~26 remaining findings.
Container / recent-list (Theme-1 leftovers):
- Send: drop NoScrollbar|NoScrollWithMouse on ##SendFormScroll so Recent Sends is
reachable at font_scale 1.5 (parity with receive).
- Receive: cap the QR/form card via std::min(mainCardTargetH, availH - recentReserve)
so RECENT RECEIVED stays on-screen (identity at 1.0x).
- Wallets dialog: size the capped-mode list to whole rows so it no longer clips a
partial row / crowds "Create a new wallet".
Narrow-width (1024px) reflow:
- Console toolbar reserves space for ALL trailing controls (both icon toggles + zoom
buttons) so the +/- zoom no longer runs off-window.
- History sort combo sized to its measured widest localized label ("Newest first").
- Settings Theme/Layout/Language row: scale the wide→stacked breakpoint by dpiScale so
it drops to full-width stacked combos at 1.5x (Consolidated Card no longer clips).
- Recent-tx type label: derive the address column X from the measured label width so it
can't collide at narrow widths.
- Mining Recent Pool Payouts: floor the panel height to fit the empty-state caption.
Cosmetic ×dpiScale() on absolute geometry (no-ops at 1.0x): mining SOLO|POOL toggle &
idle combos, market pair-chips, password/PIN strength bars, receive/send currency
toggles, explorer search bar/rows/rounding, About-card logo, chat empty-state wrap,
recent-list address/time offsets, address-toolbar & two-row action buttons, console
line-gap/status-dot/pane rounding.
Verified at font_scale 1.5 and at 1024px across full-node + Lite + Windows (ctest
green) and an adversarial diff review (one over-reserve regression fixed).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
At font_scale 1.5 (dpiScale 1.5) three fixed, non-scrolling containers clipped
content off the bottom with no scroll escape:
- First-run wizard: the hand-drawn cards grow ~1.5x past the fixed window,
pushing Continue / Encrypt & Continue / Skip off-screen (a setup blocker).
Inject a wheel-driven scroll offset into the layout seed + a scroll indicator;
gate the wheel on !IsPopupOpen + NoPopupHierarchy so an open combo popup does
not scroll the wizard behind it. No-op at 1.0x.
- Overlay dialogs (BeginOverlayDialog): auto-height cards taller than the
viewport (About, Request Payment) ran their footer off the bottom. Add a
sticky per-open overflow flag that clamps the card to the viewport and makes
the content child scrollable; short dialogs still center unchanged. Give the
nested settings clear-history confirm its own idSuffix so it can't inherit the
parent dialog's overflow state or collide on the child window id.
- Balance Recent Transactions: the dp-scaled address card evicted the recent-tx
list off the non-scrolling tab host. Cap the card inside RenderSharedAddressList
against the space that actually remains (minus a caller-provided reserve) so
the section below stays on-screen — covers all 10 balance layouts.
Verified at font_scale 1.5 across full-node + Lite + Windows (ctest green) and an
adversarial diff review (two low-severity regressions found + fixed).

When the wallet is connected but the balance has quietly stopped refreshing — a busy
daemon can fail z_gettotalbalance without dropping the whole connection (only *both*
core RPCs failing 3x triggers a disconnect) — the old number sits on screen while the
node-status banner stays hidden. The Total Balance card now shows a small pill on its
status line ("Updated 2m ago", amber, escalating to red past 3 min) so the stale value
isn't silently trusted; hovering explains it and points at the node connection.
No refresh-path changes: WalletState::last_balance_update is already stamped only on a
successful fetch (network_refresh_service.cpp), so the badge reads it and computes age
against the same std::time clock via util::formatTimeAgoShort. The decision is a pure,
unit-tested helper (ui/staleness_badge.h::evaluateStalenessBadge, 45s/180s thresholds)
gated on connected so it never contradicts the banner.
Closes P2 (5/5). Build-clean; ctest 1/1 (adds testStalenessBadge).

Three UI de-duplications (rendering changes; the test suite skips the GUI, so
these need a manual screenshot check of the Balance/Peers/Transactions tabs).
1. Classic balance layout — the DEFAULT layout — hand-rolled its own ~550-line
address-list + recent-tx renderers that had DIVERGED from the shared
RenderSharedAddressList/RenderSharedRecentTx used by the other 9 layouts.
Deleted the inline copies and called the shared renderers (as the minimal
layout already does), so the default layout now gains set-label +
add-to-portfolio context items, custom address icons, drag-to-reorder,
keyboard nav, copy-flash, and fully TR()'d strings. Hero row and Classic
sizing (tabs.balance.classic address-table-height=340) preserved; addrH is
computed before the call exactly as before. This is a deliberate
feature-parity behavior change for the default layout.
2. peers_tab info cards — extracted drawStatCell() (label + value/em-dash with
the shared offset math) and one drawCardDivider() replacing two duplicate
divider lambdas; plain cells drive off a per-card loop. Bespoke cells
(Blocks "(X left)", copy-on-click Best Block, TLS check-icon) kept inline.
3. transactions_tab — one drawSummaryCard() replaces the three near-identical
Received/Sent/Mined blocks (same glass panel, icon, hover outline,
click-to-filter). Byte-equivalent.
Full-node + Lite build clean (net -651 lines, no new warnings); ctest 1/1;
hygiene clean. NEEDS SCREENSHOT VERIFICATION.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Mechanical, behavior-preserving consolidations from the audit. Rendering
extractions were kept byte-equivalent; sites that couldn't be made identical
were left as-is (noted below).
Shared helpers:
- util::truncateMiddle(s,maxLen) / (s,front,back) in text_format.h — replaces
6 file-local middle-ellipsis truncators + several inline substr sites
(send/receive/transactions/balance_recent_tx/explorer + app.cpp + 3 dialogs).
Carries the maxLen<=3 guard, fixing the latent unsigned-underflow copies.
- material::LoadingDots() in draw_helpers.h — one animated-ellipsis source for
8 copy-pasted spinner sites (identical GetTime()*3 phase preserved).
- Reuse the existing FormatHashrate() in explorer_tab + peers_tab (dropped two
inline hashrate ladders).
- material::DrawButtonGlassOverlay() — the glass-fill/rim/tactile overlay block
shared by TactileButton / TactileSmallButton / schema TactileButton.
- material::CollapsibleHeader() — the invisible-button + label + chevron idiom
(3 of 5 settings_page sites; RPC/Debug headers skipped — non-identical).
- material::GlassCardScope (RAII) — the ChannelsSplit/Indent/DrawGlassPanel/
ChannelsMerge card scaffold (5 settings_page cards; About/send/receive skipped
— different padding / logo interleaving).
- material::DialogWarningHeader()/DialogConfirmFooter() — warning header +
50/50 Cancel/danger footer across the confirm dialogs; button height moved
from a hardcoded 40px into ui.toml (components.overlay-dialog.confirm-btn-height).
- File-local enterLowSpec()/exitLowSpec() collapse the 3 low-spec snapshot copies.
i18n: wrapped hardcoded English in the shared balance render paths and the
whole Lite lifecycle/security section in TR(), with English defaults added to
loadBuiltinEnglish() (res/lang/*.json left for the translation tooling — TR
falls back to English, so output is unchanged).
Full-node + Lite build clean; ctest 1/1; hygiene clean. These are rendering
changes — the Settings page (cards/headers/confirm dialogs), all tactile
buttons, and the Lite settings section warrant a screenshot check.

Add material::Tooltip / BeginTooltip / EndTooltip wrappers (tooltip_style.h)
that scope a small window padding (8x4, dpi-scaled) and ~85% opacity to
tooltips only, then route the tooltip call sites through them. Menus and combo
dropdowns are untouched (they keep the global opaque PopupBg).

First slice of decomposing balance_tab.cpp (3449 lines). The five rendering helpers used by every
balance layout — UpdateBalanceLerp, RenderCompactHero, RenderSharedAddressList (599 lines, the
drag-reorderable address list), RenderSharedRecentTx, RenderSyncBar — are moved verbatim into
balance_components.cpp. balance_tab.cpp is now 2680 lines.
Clean extraction: the helpers' interactive statics (drag/copy/hide/show) are function-local and
move WITH them; the only file-scope state they share is the balance-lerp animation values
(s_dispTotal/Shielded/Transparent/Unconfirmed) and s_generating_z_address, now non-static and
declared `extern` in balance_components.h (defined once in balance_tab.cpp, so both TUs share the
same objects). RenderCompactHero's default arg moved to the header declaration. The layouts (still
in balance_tab.cpp) call the helpers via the new header.
Verified: full-node + Windows + lite build (links cleanly -> extern state resolves), tests,
hygiene. This touches every layout's address list / recent-tx / hero / sync bar, so needs a
hands-on pass across the balance layouts before the next slice.

Per-frame hot paths in the immediate-mode UI were allocating needlessly:
- Address filtering in the balance tab rebuilt a std::string filter per address AND
containsIgnoreCase() lower-cased two fresh copies per call — ~6×N allocations/frame
on large wallets. New util::containsIgnoreCase(string_view, string_view) is
allocation-free, and the filter is now built once outside the loop.
- Four duplicated "time ago" implementations (balance_tab_helpers, balance_recent_tx,
send_tab, transactions_tab) are consolidated into util::formatTimeAgo (localized long
form) + util::formatTimeAgoShort (compact "5s ago"), preserving each call site's exact
display style. Both use snprintf, no per-row string concatenation.
- The send-tab address-suggestion scan (a walk over the whole tx list) is memoized on the
typed text + tx count, so it no longer recomputes every frame while the user pauses.
New src/util/text_format.{h,cpp}; the two existing containsIgnoreCase/timeAgo definitions
now delegate to it. Added to both the app and test targets (test target also gains i18n.cpp,
which text_format's localized path needs).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Balance card hashrate now uses the shared FormatHashrate() (TH/GH/MH/KH/H)
instead of a bespoke two-tier KH/s formatter.
- Recent-tx rows show the full untruncated address on hover — two z-addresses can
truncate to the same first/last window — and the truncate helpers guard maxLen<=3.
- Remove the unused viewTop/viewBot "viewport culling" locals in the tx list
(pagination already bounds per-frame work).

Add an encrypted SQLite transaction history cache with cached tip metadata and
per-address shielded scan progress so startup and full refreshes avoid
re-scanning every z-address while still invalidating on wallet/address/rescan
changes.
Improve wallet history loading by paging transparent transactions, preserving
cached shielded and sent rows, keeping recent/unconfirmed activity visible, and
classifying mining-address receives. Show z_sendmany opid sends immediately in
History and Overview, pin pending rows through refreshes, and apply optimistic
address/balance debits until opids resolve.
Add timestamped RPC console tracing by source/method without logging params or
results, reduce redundant refresh/RPC calls, and cache Explorer recent block
summaries in SQLite.
Expand focused tests for transaction cache encryption, scan-progress
persistence/invalidation, history preservation, operation-status parsing,
pending send visibility, and Explorer/RPC refresh behavior.
- Add expanded address icon picker with search, bottom-aligned actions, and improved modal sizing
- Embed a pickaxe icon font subset and wire it into typography/address icon rendering
- Track view-only shielded addresses and prevent sends from non-spendable z-addresses
- Improve address transfer dialog sizing, max amount handling, and text clipping
- Tune main header layout values in ui.toml
- Update README, codebase overview, and third-party license documentation
s_dropTargetIdx was reset to -1 unconditionally each frame, including
the release frame. Since drop target detection runs in PASS 2 (after
the drop handler), the target was always -1 when checked. Only reset
while mouse button is held so the previous frame's value is preserved.
Also bump version to 1.2.0-rc1 and add release notes.
- Rewrite RenderSharedAddressList with two-pass layout architecture
- Add drag-to-transfer: drag address onto another to open transfer dialog
- Add AddressLabelDialog with custom label text and 20-icon picker
- Add AddressTransferDialog with amount input, fee, and balance preview
- Add AddressMeta persistence (label, icon, sortOrder) in settings.json
- Gold favorite border inset 2dp from container edge
- Show hide button on all addresses, not just zero-balance
- Smaller star/hide buttons to clear favorite border
- Semi-transparent dragged row with context-aware tooltip
- Copy-to-clipboard deferred to mouse-up (no copy on drag)
- Themed colors via resolveColor() with CSS variable fallbacks
- Keyboard nav (Up/Down/J/K, Enter to copy, F2 to edit label)
- Add i18n keys for all new UI strings
Security (P0):
- Fix sidebar remaining interactive behind lock screen
- Extend auto-lock idle detection to include active widget interactions
- Distinguish missing PIN vault from wrong PIN; auto-switch to passphrase
Blocking UX (P1):
- Add 15s timeout for encryption state check to prevent indefinite loading
- Show restart reason in loading overlay after wallet encryption
- Add Force Quit button on shutdown screen after 10s
- Warn user if embedded daemon fails to start during wizard completion
Polish (P2):
- Use configured explorer URL in Receive tab instead of hardcoded URL
- Increase request memo buffer from 256 to 512 bytes to match Send tab
- Extend notification duration to 5s for critical operations (tx sent,
wallet encrypted, key import, backup, export)
- Add Reduce Motion accessibility setting (disables page fade + balance lerp)
- Show estimated remaining time during mining thread benchmark
- Add staleness indicator to market price data (warning after 5 min)
New i18n keys: incorrect_pin, incorrect_passphrase, pin_not_set,
restarting_after_encryption, force_quit, reduce_motion, tt_reduce_motion,
ago, wizard_daemon_start_failed
- Replace all hardcoded English strings with TR() translation keys across
every tab, dialog, and component (~20 UI files)
- Expand all 8 language files (de, es, fr, ja, ko, pt, ru, zh) with
complete translations (~37k lines added)
- Improve i18n loader with exe-relative path fallback and English base
fallback for missing keys
- Add pool-side hashrate polling via pool stats API in xmrig_manager
- Introduce Layout::beginFrame() per-frame caching and refresh balance
layout config only on schema generation change
- Offload daemon output parsing to worker thread
