ApplyScrollEdgeMask, which fades a scroll area's content at its top
and bottom edges, walked every vertex the area emitted on every frame
and tested both edges per vertex, even when the content fit without
scrolling and no vertex could ever be written. It now returns before
the walk when neither edge fades.
The fade maths moved unchanged into scroll_edge_fade.h and is tested
against the old inline expression, so rendering is identical. All six
callers benefit without an edit: the Overview address list, Mining's
recent blocks, Console, History, Explorer and Peers.

While theme effects were on (the default) the main loop drew every
frame it could. Where vsync is off (offscreen, some drivers, remote
sessions) an idle wallet spun at ~3,000 fps, 88% of a core; with vsync
it still drew every refresh. Frames are now paced by what needs them:
- full rate while there is input, a held key, a window appearing or
settling, a smooth scroll or the UI sweep;
- ambient (30 fps focused, 10 fps unfocused) for theme effects, the
acrylic backdrop, avatar animations and notifications;
- progress (10 fps focused, 4 fps unfocused) for UI that changes
without input. The updater and bootstrap downloads, console
commands, lite-wallet operations, seed migration, the loading
overlay and the lock-screen countdowns ask for it with
material::RequestProgressFrame();
- otherwise idle, as before: wait for events, with a housekeeping wake
every 2 s (5 s unfocused).
A software frame cap (0.9x the display refresh) bounds the loop where
vsync is off, and hidden, occluded or minimized windows get no ambient
frames. Reduce Motion freezes the theme-effect clock
(ThemeEffects::setMotionFrozen), so it needs no ambient frames either.
The displayed-balance roll goes through one clamped StepDisplayLerp
(balance_lerp.h). An idle-length frame pushed dt*speed past 1, so the
roll overshot, and under Reduce Motion's speed of 999 it diverged to
inf/NaN. The classic layout had its own copy of the old code.
Idle CPU, Lite build, offscreen (no vsync): 88% -> 5% of a core with
effects on, and 91% -> 3% with effects saved off (with the previous
commit).

Bundles the session's UI work (the touched files carry several of these
changes together, so they are committed as one coherent UI batch):
- FAQ: new RenderFaqDialog + data-driven faq_content, opened from a
status-bar "?" (and the Windows title bar), styled like the Wallets
modal with search, Wallet/Daemon tabs, and smooth scroll.
- DPI/font-scale audit: multiply hand-drawn absolute geometry by
Layout::dpiScale() across ~30 files so nothing renders native-size at
HiDPI / font_scale 1.5 (verified with a full sweep at 1.5x).
- Mining: chart now fills the horizontal space; thread stepper +/- buttons
match the input-box height; move the stratum-host toggle into
Node & Security (v1.3.0+).
- Settings: fix the auto-shield status text overlapping the grid.
- Sidebar: drop the peer-count badge on the Network button.
- i18n: wrap 193 hardcoded literals with TR() (keys/translations added in
the preceding i18n commit), so the security/PIN/lock flow, seed-backup
wizard, and witness-rebuild dialog localize.

Settings tabs brought closer to the approved mockup:
- ActionButton/renderCardButton retune (settings-scoped): 7px radius, 9px
padX, Primary → accent-outline chip, Secondary/card buttons more defined.
- Daemon-binary card: compact status right-aligned on the DAEMON BINARY
heading (Up to date / Version differs / Not installed), filled/rounded
status box, neutral danger divider (was alarming red), roomier spacing.
- RPC Connection: two-row column-aligned layout (Host | Port, then
Username | Password) so the password no longer clips off the card edge.
- Chat settings tab: live conversation preview below the Appearance /
Messaging cards; "Focus input on open" checkbox reflowed onto the console
color-toggle row.
- Debug Options: "Current theme only" toggle restricts either screenshot
sweep to the active theme instead of cycling every skin.
- Tabs fill the full content width (content-max-width cap disabled) and the
sidebar nav panel centers within the true visible area.
- i18n: new keys for the above (untranslated keys fall back to English).

Send and Receive are now consistent in layout, and the Send recipient row's buttons
render correctly.
Card envelope (Send ⇄ Receive consistency):
- Add Layout::mainComposeCardBox(availW) — a single shared source for the compose card's
width + centering (fill the available column up to content-max-width, then center). Both
tabs derive their card from it, so they can't drift again. Previously Send capped at
760dp and Receive at 860dp, so the Send card rendered ~150px narrower on any window wider
than ~860dp; now they fill available width identically.
Receive:
- Justify the footer buttons edge-to-edge (equal shares over the live count) instead of
left-clustering with dead space, matching Send's full-width footer rhythm.
- Build the address-dropdown preview to the combo's real pixel width so the trailing
balance ("— 12.00000000 DRGX") no longer hard-clips at 150% (was char-count truncation).
Send recipient row (input | Paste | contacts-icon):
- Pin the contacts icon button to the frame height so the larger iconMed font doesn't
auto-size it taller than Paste/the input.
- Reserve the real ItemSpacing.x gaps (not the smaller spacingSm token) so the row no
longer overshoots the card and clips the icon's right border.
draw_helpers (root cause, app-wide):
- TactileButton's icon path measured/drew the label INCLUDING the "##id" suffix (which
CalcTextSizeA/AddText don't strip the way ImGui's text render does), shoving the glyph
off-center-left. Strip at "##" before measuring/drawing. Corrects any icon button that
passes an explicit size and a "##id" label; no-op for labels without "##".
Verified via headless sweeps at 1.0x and 1.5x, plus a real 3800px-wide render (both cards
byte-identical at L=1174/R=2773). ctest 1/1.

Implements the layout-improvement suggestions from the layout audit (visual arrangement
only; no functionality added or removed):
- Send/Receive: the recent-activity list now grows to fill the space below the fixed
compose/receive card (more history visible), with a centered empty-state when there is
none — instead of leaving dead canvas.
- Shield/Merge: pair the Fee and UTXO-Limit fields on one row to tighten vertical rhythm.
- Market: extend + frame the portfolio group-list as one contained panel (with a bottom
edge) and center its empty-state, closing the previously un-anchored gap.
- Overlay dialogs: raise the card glass fill/border alpha (35/50 -> 60/90 of 255) so the
dialog card reads as a distinct surface over busy backdrops (global, all overlays).
- Wallets: size the list height to the actual wallet count instead of always reserving 7
rows, removing the large gap before the scan/create prompts (still scrolls when many).
- Contacts: width-aware address truncation shows more of the address on wide rows.
- Transfer Funds: give the "sends the full balance" warning a warning icon + color so the
stakes stand out from the neutral result-preview lines.
- First-run wizard: collapse a completed Step 1 (Appearance) to the compact pill like
Step 2, so a finished step is no longer taller than the active one.
- Explorer: distribute the Chain card's two stats to match the density of the sibling
metrics grid.
- Validate Address: a "Results will appear here" caption fills the pre-interaction blank.
- Change Passphrase: add the warning banner its sibling security dialogs have.
- Migration ShowSeed: box the 24-word mnemonic grid (a GlassSectionScope behind the
existing RenderSeedWordGrid) so the critical secret reads as a distinct artifact —
purely visual, no seed/logic/state change.
Verified at 1280 across full-node + Lite + Windows (ctest green) and an adversarial diff
review (clean). New i18n key backfilled into all 8 languages.

Addresses the cross-screen inconsistencies from the layout audit by routing screens onto
the design system's own (previously under-used) shared helpers:
- Dialog footers: migrate ~9 overlay dialogs off hand-rolled placement onto the shared
helpers — DialogActionFooter (primary+Close), DialogConfirmFooter, or
BeginOverlayDialogFooter for custom/multi-button rows — so footers share one centered
treatment. All footer/action buttons now use TactileButton (glass press) instead of the
bare StyledButton some dialogs used.
- Empty states: add a shared material::DrawEmptyState(icon, title, hint) (centered icon +
title + wrapped hint) and adopt it in Peers, Transactions, and Market-portfolio, which
previously showed a bare left-aligned caption.
- Security dialogs: add the missing Cancel to Change Passphrase and Set PIN so the whole
security family shares a two-button footer (Cancel dismisses without applying).
- Transactions pager: shared TactileButton helpers (matching Explorer).
- Frosted-pane rounding: Contacts/Chat use Layout::glassRounding() instead of hardcoded
12/10/8px literals, matching Peers.
- "Set Label..." title loses its stray trailing ellipsis.
Preserves every button's label and action; the transfer footer's order becomes
[Confirm][Cancel] to match the shared helper's primary-first convention. Verified at 1280
across full-node + Lite + Windows (ctest green) and an adversarial diff review (clean).

At font_scale 1.5 ~13 sites read absolute geometry (schema .size/.width) straight
into ImGui without ×dpiScale(), so they stayed native-size while the font grew and
overlapped/clipped real text or money:
- Shield/Merge fee + UTXO inputs, Request Payment amount, Block Info height input:
×dpiScale() so the value no longer clips (e.g. 0.00010000 -> 0.00010).
- Send: the confirm-popup Amount Details divider (floored the row step at the scaled
caption height so it no longer strikes the Fee row), the tx-progress error and
sending/success cards, and the zero-balance CTA button — all ×dp.
- Mining pool row: ellipsis-truncate the hostname so it can't collide with the
right-aligned hashrate.
- Chat conversation list: scale the pane-width clamp AND clip the peer name to the
column left of the timestamp (measure-then-clip) so name and time never overlap.
- Explorer block-detail label column, Peers row offsets, and DialogConfirmFooter
button height — ×dp.
transaction_details keeps its negative fill-sentinel widths unscaled (a content
margin, not raw px). Verified at font_scale 1.5 across full-node + Lite + Windows
(ctest green) and an adversarial diff review (three wrong-scale regressions fixed).

At font_scale 1.5 (dpiScale 1.5) three fixed, non-scrolling containers clipped
content off the bottom with no scroll escape:
- First-run wizard: the hand-drawn cards grow ~1.5x past the fixed window,
pushing Continue / Encrypt & Continue / Skip off-screen (a setup blocker).
Inject a wheel-driven scroll offset into the layout seed + a scroll indicator;
gate the wheel on !IsPopupOpen + NoPopupHierarchy so an open combo popup does
not scroll the wizard behind it. No-op at 1.0x.
- Overlay dialogs (BeginOverlayDialog): auto-height cards taller than the
viewport (About, Request Payment) ran their footer off the bottom. Add a
sticky per-open overflow flag that clamps the card to the viewport and makes
the content child scrollable; short dialogs still center unchanged. Give the
nested settings clear-history confirm its own idSuffix so it can't inherit the
parent dialog's overflow state or collide on the child window id.
- Balance Recent Transactions: the dp-scaled address card evicted the recent-tx
list off the non-scrolling tab host. Cap the card inside RenderSharedAddressList
against the space that actually remains (minus a caller-provided reserve) so
the section below stays on-screen — covers all 10 balance layouts.
Verified at font_scale 1.5 across full-node + Lite + Windows (ctest green) and an
adversarial diff review (two low-severity regressions found + fixed).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
- balance: inset the address-row favorite (star) button by the card's inner
padding so it mirrors the left margin instead of hugging the card edge.
- mining: remove pool.dragonx.cc from the built-in default pools (pool.dragonx.is
is now the sole default); update the pool-registry test accordingly.
- mining: middle-truncate saved pool-URL and payout-address dropdown rows (new
shared material::TruncateToWidth helper) so a full z-address no longer runs
under the trailing delete (X) button.
- mining: fix the thread-grid cells overflowing the card at >100% display
scaling — the reserved Mine-button width used a raw clamp that didn't scale;
scale it by dp so cols is estimated correctly (no-op at 100%).
Full-node build + test suite green.

Step 1: promote the polished chat-settings building blocks into reusable material
components (src/ui/material/settings_controls.h) — SettingsSubheader (accent
small-caps), SettingsRow (label left / control right), SegmentedControl (iOS
track+pill), and a tiered ActionButton (Primary=accent fill, Secondary=glass,
Tertiary=ghost, Destructive=error) with an optional leading Material icon, plus a
ButtonFlow that wraps rows of buttons.
Step 2: rebuild the Wallet BACKUP & DATA button wall on them. The 9–11 identical
buttons that were font-scaled onto one row are now tier-ordered, icon-labelled,
and wrap to new rows: the emphasized actions the user flagged — Import key, Seed
phrase, Wallets…, Download Bootstrap — cluster on top as accent Primary buttons;
common actions (viewing-key import, Backup, Migrate, Setup Wizard) are Secondary;
exports are low-emphasis Tertiary. All click handlers/tooltips and the migrate
"legacy wallet" glow are preserved. Removes the SetWindowFontScale legibility hack.

material::SegmentedControl drew each label centred with no clip, so long non-English labels (Russian/German, etc.) overflowed their cell and overlapped neighbours. Left-align on overflow and clip per cell (mirroring the chat modal's segmented helper); the fits-case is visually unchanged. Benefits every caller (contacts, receive, wallets, market).

The chat "Emoji style: Color" option renders the merged emoji in color (COLR/CPAL
Twemoji) instead of the monochrome NotoEmoji subset. This needs FreeType, which the
default stb_truetype rasterizer can't do for color glyphs.
- Vendor imgui_freetype (matches the bundled 1.92 ImFontLoader API) and embed a 1.4 MB
COLRv0 Twemoji font (no libpng/harfbuzz needed).
- CMake gains an optional FreeType path: native Linux/macOS use the system FreeType via
find_package; the mingw-w64 cross-compile has none, so build.sh --win-release now
cross-builds a minimal static FreeType (scripts/build-freetype-mingw.sh) and passes it
in. Absent FreeType => graceful monochrome fallback, so no build breaks.
- Typography selects the FreeType loader + the color font (LoadColor) when color emoji is
on, else the stb loader + mono subset; toggling reloads the atlas. Both the DX11 and
OpenGL backends already support the 1.92 RGBA dynamic atlas, so color glyphs render.

Merge a monochrome Noto Emoji subset into the text fonts so chat messages, the
composer, contact names, and memos render emoji (😀🎉 ❤ 🔥👍 …) instead of
tofu.
- Enable IMGUI_USE_WCHAR32 (imconfig.h): emoji live above the BMP (U+1F300+), so
16-bit ImWchar literally can't address them. This widens ImWchar build-wide;
the only ImWchar uses in-tree are glyph-range arrays and one BMP private-use
codepoint, so nothing else is affected. Tests + full build pass.
- Bundle res/fonts/NotoEmoji-Subset.ttf — the OFL monochrome Noto Emoji (color
CBDT/COLR fonts can't be rasterized by ImGui's stb_truetype) pinned to wght=400
and subset to the emoji planes (1411 glyphs, 747 KB). Reproducible via
scripts/build_emoji_subset.py. Embedded via INCBIN like the CJK subset.
- Typography::loadFont merges it (MergeMode) only into the small text fonts
(Body/Subtitle/Caption/Button) — not headers, which don't need 1400 emoji.
The base font keeps precedence for U+2600–26FF, so text-style symbols stay.
Limits: ImGui does no shaping, so single-codepoint emoji render but ZWJ sequences
(family/profession) and regional-indicator flags won't compose; emoji are
monochrome (the OS emoji picker still inputs them fine, and the composer byte
counter already counts their 4-byte UTF-8 cost against the on-chain cap).
Verified headless: sizeof(ImWchar)==4 and every probed emoji is in-font and bakes
into the atlas.

BlurFloat overlays draw a full-window veil over the live blur so the card-less
floating modal content reads as foreground. The light-theme branch used a strong
neutral DARK veil (IM_COL32(16,18,24,200)) on the theory that "light content pops
on a dark veil" — but on a light theme the modal chrome is dark-on-light, so it
sank INTO the veil: the heading, description, Sort row, and the create/scan/
reveal/close buttons all washed out to low-contrast dark-on-dark, and a "light"
theme read dark whenever a modal opened.
UI controls already carry a dropshadow on light themes for figure/ground, so the
backdrop no longer needs to supply contrast by going dark. Switch the light-theme
veil to a theme-tinted LIGHT frost (WithAlpha(Background(), 205)); the dark-theme
branch is untouched. Fixes every BlurFloat modal at once.
Verified via full sweep: marble / light read as clean light frost with all chrome
legible, dune gets a theme-appropriate warm frost, and obsidian (dark) is
unchanged.

Export All Keys' long DANGER warning was clipped at the card edge because the
header rendered a single unwrapped line. Add PushTextWrapPos so a long warning
flows to a second line; short one-line warnings (import/backup/settings) fit and
are unaffected. Surfaced by the Windows sweep on modal-export-all-keys.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Phase 0b of the settings-modal redesign — pull the reference dialog's two
repeated patterns into shared helpers so the upcoming migrations are mechanical
and identical:
- material::DialogActionFooter(primary, enabled, close, &outPrimary, &outClose)
— the centered fixed-width primary+Close TactileButton pair with no divider.
- material::GlassSectionScope — an RAII auto-sized glass sub-section using a LOCAL
ImDrawListSplitter (combo-safe, unlike GlassCardScope's shared ChannelsSplit) with
the reference's 12/10 padding and 8dp rounding; interiorWidth() for full-width kids.
Dogfooded by refactoring renderImportKeyDialog's footer and scan-height panel onto
them — same padding/spec/centering, so the render is unchanged.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Several layout refinements to the Import Private/Viewing Key dialog:
- Widen the dialog to 640px so the one-line warning under the heading no longer wraps.
- Vertically center DialogWarningHeader's label with the (taller) warning icon
instead of top-aligning it — a consistent fix for every warning header.
- Add a small gap between the key input's text and the flush eye toggle.
- Center + slightly enlarge the Paste / Clear buttons.
- Center the Import/Sweep + Close action buttons.
- Scan-height control: put the numeric input first with the slider below it, and
drop the redundant "0 = rescan from the start" hint (0 is the field default; the
transparent-key note is kept).

Bump the hardcoded modal blur radius (96 -> 120) for a softer, more
recognizable frost behind dialogs. Still independent of the acrylic slider.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
The modal backdrop blur was params.blurRadius (96) scaled by the user's global
acrylic blur-strength slider (blurRadiusMultiplier), so lowering the slider also
weakened every modal's backdrop. Make the modal blur a fixed hardcoded value.
Add AcrylicParams::absoluteBlurRadius: when set, applyBlur() uses the radius
as-is and skips the multiplier (threaded through both the GL and DX11 blur paths
+ the no-op stub). DrawFullWindowBlurBackdrop sets it, so the modal backdrop is
always a 96px blur regardless of the slider. Panels/other acrylic still scale
with the slider as before.
Verified: rendering a modal at blur_multiplier 0.1 vs 2.0 now produces an
identical backdrop (max pixel diff 1/255) — previously those were ~9.6px vs
~192px of blur.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
The Material --error reds are muted by design, so error text drawn with the
theme Error() color read low-contrast on the (now deeper) dark modal backdrops —
the audit flagged the seed-migration warning/error lines on dark / dragonx.
Add material::ReadableError(): the theme error lifted toward a legible light red
on dark themes, unchanged on light themes (where it's already a dark red that
reads on a light background). Apply it to the modal error-TEXT sites (lite
first-run, seed backup, seed migration). This is targeted — it never touches the
app-wide Error() used by toasts / badges / status dots — so nothing else shifts.
Verified on the sweep: the "node too old" warning (dark) and "daemon did not
respond" error (dragonx) now read clearly; light themes are unchanged.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
The modal audit found card-less (floating) dialogs read slightly unanchored on
the light skins: the blur backdrop's dim is a theme-tinted frost, which darkens
on dark themes (content pops) but WHITENS on light themes — so sparse content
floated in a near-white expanse with no figure/ground separation.
- Light themes now get a neutral dark veil instead of the whitening frost, which
darkens the surround and makes the modal's fields/buttons stand out.
- Dark themes keep the theme-tinted frost, a touch stronger (alpha 70 -> 90).
- Full-window blur deepened (64 -> 96) so the backdrop reads clearly frosted.
Verified on the headless sweep across light + dark: backup / debug-gate now
read as anchored groups; content-heavy modals (daemon-update, settings, wallets)
are unaffected (their own surfaces stand out), and dark-skin text contrast
improves for free from the deeper dim.

Rework DrawCardDropShadow (Light/Marble): a Gaussian-sampled ring stack
matching a `0 0 4px rgb(50 53 58 / 34a)` box-shadow — offset-free, darker,
and tighter than the old faint 14px black halo. Clip to the shadow's own
bounding box (card ± reach) instead of the child window bounds so top/bottom
shadows are no longer chopped where a card sits flush with its container,
while staying on the card's own draw list (correct z-order in modals/popups).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Cards are drawn inside clipping child windows, so the shadow (which extends past
the card edge) was cut at the child boundary — most visibly a hard line on the
sidebar's inner edge, which also made the shadow look non-uniform. Widen the
shadow's clip horizontally (card + spread, clamped to the viewport) so the side
shadows reach into the gaps between panels, while keeping the vertical clip at the
child bounds so a card scrolled to a child's top/bottom edge can't bleed its
shadow into the header/footer. Verified: sidebar + settings cards now show an
even shadow on all four sides.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Drop the downward offset so the soft shadow is equal on all four sides — an even
halo around each card rather than a directional cast, matching the requested
look. Slightly more rings for a smoother falloff. Still stroke-based (no body
contamination), Light/Marble only.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Cards on the pale Light / Marble backgrounds now lift off the surface with a
subtle drop shadow. Drawn in DrawGlassPanel (behind the card fill) as fading
rounded-rect STROKES offset down — strokes never paint across the card body, so
only the outer soft blur remains once the fill covers the interior (the
"render then mask out the UI area" result, no FBO needed). Gated to the Light and
Marble themes (cached per theme-generation); dark themes are unchanged. Verified
across marble / light (shadow present, smooth, body clean) and dark (none).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
The overlay content child had NoScrollbar (hides the scrollbar) but not
NoScrollWithMouse — so when a fixed-height card's content overflowed by even a
few px, the mouse wheel silently drifted the ENTIRE dialog (title + panes +
footer). Add NoScrollWithMouse to the content child: a modal is a fixed frame;
inner scroll regions (version list, release notes, command list) still scroll on
their own, and auto-height cards resize to content so they never overflow.
Also fix the daemon updater's footer budget, which under-counted the
Spacing/Separator/Spacing + inter-item gaps and produced exactly that few-px
overflow. Verified daemon / console / wallets / portfolio render intact.

Refine the two-pane node updater:
- Release notes now render as in-app markdown (new src/ui/material/markdown.h):
# / ## / ### headings, **bold**, `inline code` (tinted + subtle pill), and
- / * / + bullets, word-wrapped with mixed fonts via the draw list. cleanNotes
keeps the markdown now (only the trailing checksum table is cut), so the
renderer styles it.
- Each version is a tactile Material card — filled rounded surface with
hover/press/selected states (primary-tinted + outlined when selected), a
rounded status accent bar, tag + latest/installed/pre-release badges + date —
instead of a plain Selectable row.
- Dropped the thin 1px outlines: the version list is borderless and the notes
sit on a filled, rounded Material surface.
The sweep's fake release body gains bold/code/multi-heading markdown to exercise
the renderer. Verified 100% + 150%, dark + light.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
An ImGui auto-resize child reports a too-small height on its first render and
the true height a frame later, so centering on last frame's height made the card
visibly slide for ~2 frames as it converged. Hiding only the very first frame
wasn't enough — the next frame or two still moved.
Track per-dialog height stability: keep the card hidden (laid out + measured, but
clipped) until its measured height holds steady across two frames, then reveal it
already centered. A dialog re-arms on (re)open so each open reveals stable; once
shown it won't re-hide on a mid-dialog content change (just repositions); a
frame cap prevents an ever-changing height from hiding it forever. Fixed-height
dialogs are unaffected. Verified migrate / about / seed-backup / import-key
reveal centered at the settled frame.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Auto-height dialogs need one frame to measure their content height before they
can be centered. Previously that first frame was drawn near the top, so a
first-ever open flashed off-center for a frame before snapping to center.
On the measuring frame, lay the content out (so the child's auto-height is still
measured) but clip the whole card to a zero rect and skip the glass panel — the
card draws nothing while the blur backdrop still shows, then it appears already
centered on the next frame. Clip covers both ImGui widgets and hand-drawn
content; layout/measurement is unaffected (verified migrate / about / import-key
still render centered at the settled frame).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Fixed-height overlay cards were already centered, but auto-height cards
hard-anchored at 15% from the top, so shorter dialogs (e.g. Migrate to a seed
wallet, Import Key, About) rendered top-heavy with a large empty area below.
Center auto-height cards on last frame's measured content height (already cached
per dialog id in g_overlayCardHeights). A re-opened dialog centers from frame 1;
only the very first open of a given dialog this session briefly anchors near the
top before it re-centers. Content taller than the window top-anchors at a 16px
margin. One framework change centers every modal (verified across migrate /
import-key / about / seed-backup at 100%).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Drop the glass card + boxed title bar from every dialog so content floats
directly on the blur backdrop under a plain h6 heading — the Manage-Portfolio
look — unifying the whole modal system on one visual language (reverses the
earlier card-for-small / float-for-large split).
- Framework: the positional BeginOverlayDialog overload (used by all ~34 card
dialogs) now defaults to floatingContent + plainHeading (draw_helpers.h). The
9 spec-form BlurFloat dialogs are unchanged; any dialog can still opt back to a
card via an explicit OverlayStyle::GlassCard spec. Authored widths are kept
(floating never resizes), so width-coupled layouts are unaffected.
- Dedup: the framework h6 title made each dialog's own repeated title heading
redundant. Removed the duplicate body heading from Import/Export key, Backup,
daemon update, seed backup, seed migration, Defender-blocked (app.cpp),
Wallets, and the send-confirm popup.
- Close paths: dropping the title-bar close X is covered — every dialog has a
footer button and/or the framework's outside-click dismiss (all pass p_open);
send-confirm keeps Esc + Confirm/Cancel.
Verified via the headless full UI sweep on dark + light: 17 modal surfaces float
card-less with a single clean heading, nothing clipped, close controls present.
Build clean, ctest passes.

Address the high-severity, systemic legibility issues found in the per-skin
screenshot review (verified across all 9 skins):
- Status pills (history): "Confirmed" text was 55%-alpha (dim); make it full
opacity, and give status/shield pills a visible tinted fill (a48) + 1px border
(a90) so they stop vanishing on dark-red / near-white / gradient skins.
- Console light theming: light skins now use a near-white terminal surface, and
the log text/JsonBrace colors switch to the dark defaults in light themes (the
schema colors are dark-terminal-authored — honor them only in dark themes) so
text isn't pale-on-white.
- Dark-skin muted text: bump --on-surface-medium 0.85 / --on-surface-disabled
0.58 on dragonx/dark/color-pop-dark/obsidian (obsidian addresses were ~1.1:1).
- Disabled Send button: the disabled fill was hardcoded white (invisible on
light skins) — use a dark overlay in light themes.
- Light-skin inputs: stronger frame fill + border color and a 1px frame border
for light themes so fields (and buttons) have defined boundaries on white/
pastel surfaces.

Extend the inputs layer with the two remaining form-field idioms, pixel-identical:
- material::LabeledInputRow(label, labelPos, ...) — horizontal label-beside-input
(Text + SameLine + SetNextItemWidth + InputText). Adopt at the settings RPC
host/port/user/pass rows.
- material::LabeledInputMultiline(label, id, buf, size, flags) — label above a
sized multiline input. Adopt at the address-book notes and request-payment
memo (drops the redundant SetNextItemWidth that InputTextMultiline's explicit
size already governs).

UI-standardization audit: the labeled single-line form field (a plain
ImGui::Text label above a fixed-width InputText/InputTextWithHint) was
open-coded across dialogs. Add material::LabeledInput(label, id, buf, size,
width=-1, hint=nullptr, flags=0) mirroring that idiom exactly — pixel-identical,
but a single chokepoint so input styling (label typography, frame, spacing) can
later evolve in one place. Returns the input's edited bool.
Adopt at the clean vertical (label-above) single-line sites: address-book
add/edit (label + address), shield from-address, export-all-keys + export-
transactions filename, validate-address input, request-payment label + URI.
Left as-is: horizontal label-beside-input rows (settings RPC host/port/user/
pass use Text + SameLine), multiline (InputTextMultiline), numeric (InputDouble),
combos, and hint-only inputs — none match the vertical single-line idiom.

UI-standardization audit: three draw patterns were copy-pasted across tabs and
dialogs. Promote each to a material:: helper and adopt at every verbatim site.
Output is pixel-identical (same colors/geometry threaded through as params).
- material::DrawProgressBar / ProgressBar — replaces 3 byte-identical rounded
fill bars in the daemon/xmrig/bootstrap download dialogs.
- material::CopyableTextOverlay — the click-to-copy affordance (hit button +
hand cursor + tooltip + hover underline + clipboard) shared by the peers
best-block hash and the 3 mining stats (difficulty/block/address). Returns
"copied this frame" so callers keep their own toast (no ui-layer dependency).
- material::DrawPill / PillSize — rounded bg + optional border + inset text
badge, shared by the explorer status pill, the market Z/T chip, and the
network official/custom tag.
Divergent one-offs left in place (transactions status pills use schema rounding
around pre-positioned multi-line text; the mining filter-pill is a button bg).

UI-standardization audit found two dead, contradictory "how to draw a button"
surfaces with zero call sites:
- src/ui/material/components/buttons.h (353 lines: TextButton/Outlined/Contained/
Button(spec)/IconButton/FAB) — included by 3 mining files but never used.
- ApplyTactile (draw_helpers.h) — a retrofit-tactile-onto-plain-button wrapper,
never called.
Remove the file, the 3 dead includes, and ApplyTactile. TactileButton/StyledButton
remain the canonical button helpers. No behavior change.

From the theme sweep review, three overarching light-theme fixes:
- Buttons: bump ImGuiCol_Button light overlays 13/20/28% -> 16/23/30% so the
small/secondary buttons read as clearly as the main ones.
- Dividers + outlines: raise --divider (0.12-0.14 -> 0.20) and --outline
(-> 0.24) across all light skins so section/list dividers are visible on white.
- Ratio/balance bars: deepen the muted --success/--warning greens/ambers in the
light skins that were pale (light, marble, dune) so the shielded/transparent
bars + success text are vivid (color-pop-light + iridescent were already vivid).

From the theme screenshot sweep: input fields, dropdowns and amount boxes were
nearly invisible on light themes (Send form especially) — ImGuiCol_FrameBg was
black@4% vs the dark theme's white@7%, so boxes blended into the white surface.
Bump the light-theme FrameBg / hovered / active to 9/14/18% so inputs read as
defined boxes. Affects all light skins.

Per the request for a flatter look like the Manage-portfolio modal's plain
buttons, render TactileButton FLAT on light themes: DrawButtonGlassOverlay now
early-returns in light themes with just a subtle defining edge (--rim-light),
skipping the white glass sheen (--glass-fill) and the tactile 3D depth (bright top
edge + the hardcoded bottom shadow that couldn't be removed via TOML).
ImGui::Button still draws the fill/hover/active (the darkened ImGuiCol_Button
overlays), so the button reads as a flat, defined element. Dark themes keep the
raised glass/tactile look. Re-adds the IsLightTheme() luminance helper (early in
the header so the overlay can use it). Applies to all TactileButtons app-wide in
light themes, not just Settings.

Replace the light-theme modal backing (19e3138, now reverted) with a root-cause
fix: darken the light themes' UI elements for contrast.
- Buttons: the light-theme ImGuiCol_Button overlays were barely-there grey
(5/8/12% black); bump to 13/20/28% so buttons read as buttons on light
surfaces (one edit in ApplyColorThemeToImGui covers all light skins).
- Text: raise --on-surface-medium (60-72% -> 86%) and --on-surface-disabled
(38-40% -> 52%) across the light skins (light, color-pop-light, dune, marble,
iridescent) — the dominant secondary/label text was too faint. Base
--on-surface was already near-black, left as-is.
The active theme is TOML-skin-driven, so the code GetMaterialLightTheme() is not
the live source; edits are in the skin TOMLs + the ImGui-style mapping.

Floating (BlurFloat) modals draw no card, so in a light theme the light content
sits on a light frosted backdrop with almost no separation (washed out — the
Manage-portfolio modal being the clearest case). Add a faint elevated sheet
(translucent Surface) + a defining edge (OnSurface) behind floating content in
LIGHT themes only, gated on a new IsLightTheme() (background luminance) helper.
Dark themes are unchanged (they already read fine). Kept translucent to preserve
the airy floating feel; respects "no dark backdrop in light theme".

Address two GUI-review points:
1. Light themes no longer get a dark modal backdrop: DrawFullWindowBlurBackdrop
now tints toward the theme app background (WithAlpha(Background(), ...)) for
both the opaque base and the frost, so a light theme gets a light frosted
backdrop and a dark theme a dark one. Fixes all blur overlays, not just the
lock screen.
2. The lock screen now blurs the WHOLE window (sidebar included), not just the
content area: renderLockScreen opens a full-viewport borderless overlay window
(##LockOverlay, same pattern as the modal overlays / portfolio, opened from
within ##ContentArea) with an input blocker, instead of drawing in the content
child. Removed the theme-independent dark scrim (contradicted point 1).
Auth logic untouched. Needs GUI re-verify of all auth paths + that the whole
screen (incl. sidebar) obscures on lock and unlock returns cleanly.

The two Phase 3 "bespoke overlays" aren't content modals: the send-error is an
in-tab glass banner (already consistent — left as-is), and the shutdown screen is
a teardown screen where a blur backdrop would be semantically wrong (should read
as "closing") + risky on the teardown path. Per that finding, apply minor
consistency polish to the shutdown screen only:
- Share the overlay-scrim tone via a new material::OverlayScrimColor(opacity),
used by both the dialog scrim and the shutdown scrim (was a slightly different
hardcoded 0.06/0.06/0.08 → now the 0.04/0.04/0.06 dialog base).
- "Shutting Down" title → theme Warning() amber (was hardcoded gold).
- Force-Quit confirm destructive button → theme Error() (alpha-varied) instead of
hardcoded reds.
No behavior change; the shutdown scrim stays opaque (no blur).

Flip the positional BeginOverlayDialog overload's default to blurBackdrop=true, so
every app dialog (~43 call sites) now renders its card on the live-blur backdrop
instead of the opaque scrim — matching the Manage-Portfolio look. Cards stay
auto-height (small dialogs stay small = "card for small") and render opaque via
the existing sole-consumer fallback (a translucent glass card would thrash the
single-slot blur cache against the radius-64 backdrop). Nested dialogs (address
book edit) already pass a distinct idSuffix, so their blur windows/capture keys
don't collide. A dialog that wants the old scrim can pass a spec with
blurBackdrop=false. Big visual change — needs a GUI sweep; trivially reverted.

The adversarial review found the ModalRenderGuard lagged the old
PortfolioEditorActive() signal by one extra frame on CLOSE (a possible 1-frame
"opaque panels" flash). Latch the overlay's open flag (already available via
spec.p_open) — "drew this frame AND still open after Esc/Close/outside handling" —
instead of just "drew last frame", so the guard drops and the acrylic re-capture
fire on the same frame the overlay closes, matching the old inline behavior on
both edges.

Dogfood the Phase 0 framework: RenderPortfolioEditor now opens via
material::BeginOverlayDialog(BlurFloat) + EndOverlayDialog instead of its own
inline overlay scaffold, and uses the promoted material:: SegmentedControl /
RightAlignX / BeginFadeScrollChild helpers (overlay_scroll.h). Delete the
portfolio's inline backdrop/capture-once state machine + its PfEditState capture
statics + the four local helper copies. App::render's ModalRenderGuard is now
driven by the modal-agnostic AnyBlurOverlayActiveLastFrame() (timing-equivalent),
and LatchBlurOverlayActive() at frame end handles the acrylic re-capture on close.
Framework tweak: floating cards pop the card WindowPadding after BeginChild (so
nested children don't inherit it) and center button labels, keeping the net
style-var count at 2 so EndOverlayDialog is unchanged and GlassCard stays
byte-identical. RenderPortfolioEditor: 357 -> 282 lines. Needs GUI verification
that the portfolio modal is visually/behaviourally unchanged.

Refactor BeginOverlayDialog to run through an OverlayDialogSpec + OverlayStyle
(GlassCard vs BlurFloat) with orthogonal flags (blurBackdrop / floatingContent /
plainHeading, fixed vs auto card height). The classic look is now GlassCard with
all flags off; the existing positional overload forwards to it → all ~43 current
dialogs are byte-identical (verified line-by-line). The BlurFloat path — live-blur
backdrop with per-overlay capture-once (frame-gap arming), floating content, plain
h6 heading — is implemented but unused until Phase 1 dogfoods it on the portfolio.
Also replace the unusable open-refcount with a per-frame drawn flag + last-frame
latch that invalidates the acrylic capture on the overlay's close transition.
